Many people have inspired and helped me with my on-going family research. Just a few are mentioned below :
With respect to my maternal grandparents Harry Williams and Marjorie May - thank you Ngaira for your information regarding their parents and grandparents and the ships they arrived in New Zealand on. Also for keeping track of all the births, marriages etc so that my job of recording grandchildren and great-grandchildren was so easy. It was Ngaira who first inspired me to research the many branches of my family tree.
Thanks to Tina Pickford who supplied a wealth of information about Emanuel Pickford and his descendants.
Many thanks must go to Otto Palfenier of Alberta, Canada who supplied so much previously unknown information about Lavinna May and her ancestors, including the Trelease family, and by so doing revealed another Cornish link. A big thank-you also to Martin Raper (a descendant of the Treweeks of Cornwall) who supplied the early history of the Treweek (previously Trewike) families.
Details of the Wenzlick family (and other original Bohemian families) have been recorded in Puhoi. Daune and Greg have helped with most of my information. Greg has visited 2nd and 3rd cousins in the United States and continues to research his family. Also thanks to Beverley, for her information regarding Gregor & Emma and their descendants.
Daune also gave me a starting point for my Batten research. I also have information from Mr Ken Batten who lives in Peterhead, Scotland. Ken has undertaken a One Name Study on the Batten name world-wide. He supplied information about the Battens from Menheniot, Cornwall. Also thanks to Mark Batten from Wellington for filling in some missing information for me.
Information on the Bayer family was supplied by Anthony Bayer - thank-you Anthony for sharing this with me.
The Mitchell, Murphy, McMullen & McPike forefathers were Fencibles and most of the information about them was found in a wonderful book called "The Royal New Zealand Fencibles 1847-1852" which was first published in 1997 to coincide with the Fencible Decendants' 150th Anniversary. It was here that I found the majority of my information about Rex's father's family.
The McLarnon family has been well researched and documented and thanks must go to Elaine Priest and Tina Wade for sharing their information with me.
Most of my Haslip information was found through looking through microfiche and books at the Auckland Library. One book in particular "Early Auckland Births, Deaths and Marriages" compiled by Shirley Kendall, supplied me with many baptisms etc. It was in the former that I first found mention of Reuben Haslip (Rex's great-great-grandfather). As yet I have not been able to find out exactly when he first came to New Zealand or on what ship.
Information about Reuben's (unconfirmed) brother, Henry came from as a result of an enquiry on the Family History.com message boards. Thank you again Judith for your information. I have also used the NZGI Index and FamilySearch org.
Thank-you, too, to Mrs Shirley Haslip who updated names and dates of her children and grandchildren. Tommy and Shirley celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary in March 2000.
The Webb family continues to be a little of a mystery and probably the branch I have spent the least time on as yet. The little I have was given to me by Rex's cousins Terry and Margaret.
All of the information I have regarding the Bridgens family was supplied by a wonderful lady, Mrs Kathleen Craig. She answered an enquiry I had posted in the NZSG magazine and responded with a very detailed account of the Bridgens family in early Auckland, as well as in England prior to coming to New Zealand. She had lived next-door to Martha Webb (nee Bridgens) in her early life and knew the family well.
And to all of those people who have contacted me via e-mail since originally posting my page to the World Wide Web a big Thank You for all for your e-mails and for the extra snippets of information which are gratefully received.
