CINEMA 4D MULTIPASS TUTORIAL AND SHADOW CATCHING
Again, I know this has been asked many times before but I wanted to see if I could get a definitive answer or maybe someone could point me to a tutorial that outlines the steps required. It doesn’t necessarily need to save the RGB pass, but it will still render it. Thanks for stopping by. Anyway, i know these two links: Vince on Oct 22, Reply Thanks very much. Franz on Jan 25, Reply Hi Josh, thanks a lot for this shedding light on this. Archived This topic is now archived and is closed to further replies.
Yes, that exact tutorial is coming: I would like to examine the setup in detail and I think it would be excellent if you could upload the project minus the footage. Josh on Nov 01, Reply Thanks, Rod. And to be more specific. This method will not work. I think many of us struggle somewhat with the process in. Best tutorial out there for this subject. I want to render the Shadow pass only.
Scott on Nov 26, Hsadow Any luck on the area shadows? Josh on Oct 03, Reply Thanks so much, Charlie! Your email address will not be published. It doesn’t necessarily need to save the RGB pass, but it will still render it. Josh on Aug 17, Reply Hey thanks!
If you could ever find the time to do a tutorial taking a shot from SynthEyes to C4D to AE it would be greatly appreciated. C4D will always render out a beauty pass. Yes, maybe you are doing something wrong with the compositing tags.
Anyway, i know these two links: I’ve seen this question asked at least other times and everyone is essentially trying to get the same result. Vince on Oct 22, Reply Thanks very much.

make a floor invisible and keep a shadow : Maxon Cinema 4D
Josh on May 18, Reply Hey thanks, Gareth. You need sketch and toon to use the preset.
I know how to do it on After Effects but not on C4D. MarkOtay on Oct 03, Reply Finally solved my problems. I would like to examine the setup in detail and I think it would be excellent if you could upload the project minus the footage. I try to encourage people to createtheir own scenes but I could upload the project file for this minus the footage or maybe just one frame of it.
After i track the shots and solve the camera movement, i set my light, an place white colored planes where the shadows would fall set to compositing background with the c4d compositing tag. If this is fixed it would would work with the physical renderer too.
make a floor invisible and keep a shadow
Yes, that exact tutorial is coming: This works also with the Physical Renderer. What you say here, can you please elaborate a little bit on that? This should be all the information you need: Jose on Jan 11, Reply This awesome thanks. However, it still doesn’t really give you 1 separate “shadow pass” without multipasx type of geometry.
Thanks finema the tutorial! I can do that easily in Modo, Lightwave and After Effects, but all the Google results about this took me nowhere. Any help would be greatly appreciated. More tutorials to come just really busy at the moment. Now drag the Texture to the Floor.
It works fine for soft and hard shadows, but not for area shadows.
Tutorial C4D Multi-Pass Rendering/Compositing and Shadow Catching. |
Josh on Oct 03, Reply Hey Rob, interesting. Nice video about multipass shadow compositing. Do you have any idea why this might be?
Collin on Jan 05, Reply This is just what i needed. I did see that plugin You could do this by eye in C4D too. Because with the shadow catcher material applied to the ground plane the latter gets transparent. Every time I try this I have to at least render the Floor Plane in shaadow to see the shadow. Plese help us to understand how dale it with new C4D versions.
One of those being a shadow pass but I show you how to do it all in one render with mulit-pass control. I should’ve said that in the last post. The shadow pass is the shaow shadows on the object but not on the wall i want the shadows on. Justin on Nov 13, Reply Your download cacthing is giving me a Texture error message when I render. MAXON will have to address this in an update for it to get fixed. I don’t want to render the beauty pass. I am working on some matchmove shots.
If you have a Cineversity account they have some helpful tutorials there. This technique will quickly become a cjnema of mine in a lot of things i do!!
