DRENNAN SERIES 7 13FT SILVERFISH FLOAT ROD

They got a cracking write up in this weeks angling times, but I’m just wondering if anyone’s used 1 yet. If I didnt think I would get into anything largish then my rod of choice would be the Matchpro, If I have a shoal of 5lb Tench at my feet then I would pick up the Classic. A lot of people these days have a BA. Having used Drennan rods for some time I cannot fault them I use both their tench and 14ft matchpro float, fine rods at a very good price considering the quality and build. I’ll let you know how it feels, nick. And some stick floats!

So,if anyone’s got one, or had a waggle of one,I’d be interested to know what you thought, Cheers Paul. After using both I would suggest the Classic as it does give you more power than really comes from the middle of the rod whilst the Matchpro doesnt. Forum sponsored by Thomas Turner Fishing Antiques. I don’t get too upset about the three piece set up. All times are GMT.

I got it from matchman supplies website-postage free for all uk serifs Although the Acolyte is now Drennan’s flagship, I personally think the Matchpro is still world class.

I’ve already got a couple of silverfiish 7’s,which are very good. Previous 1 2 template Next.

Cheers david, very tempting m8,but I think the mrs would string me up by my goolies if I buy any more rods! It would store in a cut down tube easily enough.

I like the look of the Drennan rods as the IM9 and Series 7 are 13ft giving a bit more control for trotting, but still break down into two pieces. So,if anyone’s got one, or had a waggle of one,I’d be interested to know what you thought, Cheers Paul.

Drennan have just started doing some series 7 reels reels at a very reasonable price to go with there series 7 rod range, it might be worth looking to see if you can get the perfect combo. In a review on another forum I likened the Matchpro to a tank ariel if you get me which is heaven for small fish but to try and keep a decent Tench out of a snag, well, I wouldnt have the confidence in it.

Drennan IM9 Classic float vs Series 7 Silverfish vs Matchpro Float 13ft I have a pair of 14ft Matchpros which I think are a class piece of kit but – got the second one off a mate who couldn’t stand it!!

Drennan IM9 Classic float vs Series 7 Silverfish vs Matchpro Float 13ft Have read the post again robd84 responded before i went to work and the 7 series silverfish is a cheaper rod by far but I cant really compare as not used one but its all in the carbon blank and I think you get what you pay for.

And some stick floats! Its arsenal class mate! Hi guys, I’m thinking of buying one of these rods for my river fishing,as they can be left setup,as they’re 2 piece with a screw off butt.

Drennan Series 7 13ft Silverfish Float Rod | Browns Angling

I guess I’m looking for silverfisu reasonably through action that will be fun to target silvers on but still be able to cope with a 10lb carp on a commercial.

It will be used purely for pleasure angling – I’m no matchman and I realise any rod is going to be a bit of a compromise for such a wide range of uses. The time now is If I didnt think I would get into anything largish then my rod of choice would be the Matchpro, If I have a shoal of 5lb Tench at my feet then I would pick up the Classic.

I’ll let you know how it feels, nick. A lot of people these days have a BA. The series 7’s are well good,I’ve got the series 7 13 ft competition feeder,it’s cracking. Drennan IM9 Classic float vs Series 7 Silverfish vs Matchpro Float 13ft Hi all I’m after a new float rod that will be a decent all rounder – I enjoy everything from fishing for roach and skimmers on canals, through to trotting for chub and targeting tench and small to medium sized carp on stillwaters. For the price mate you’ll find it very hard to beat it!

Drennan Series 7 Silverfish Float 13ft Match Fishing Rod

The Matchpro seems to get rave reviews too but being three piece isn’t quite as convenient – if it’s silverfiish much better rod I could deal with the added faff though.

Just ordered seeries rod,I’ll let you know what it’s like when the bloody snow goes! It’s a 13′ rod, which is ideal for stick float on a small local river I fish regularly,I’d be pairing it with my abu closed face reel. They got a cracking write up in this weeks angling times, but I’m just wondering if anyone’s used 1 yet. All of the other series 7 range has been really good so far so i doubt drrnnan break the mould with those rods.

That’s a great deal, Especially for something as bulky as a rod and some feeders! Flkat using both I would suggest the Classic as it does give you more power than really comes from the middle of the rod whilst the Matchpro doesnt. Although it ain’t gonna get much use,I got a beastmaster feeder rod 4 xmas!! Hope that helps mate.
