The storyline sounds so good and I must admit I really like the cover it is beautiful and peaceful. I enjoy reading books about women finding themselves and women in supportive friendships. As for the leading character, the grieving American fashion designer, she is just as much a figment of the author’s imagination as the town of Glenmara. The book was lovely, and it also has these pieces of magical realism in it. Sorry, your blog cannot share posts by email. All in all, a cute book, definitely chick-lit. It seemed a tiny bit unrealistic.

If you are a fan of Sarah Addison Allen, you will more than likely enjoy this book as well! I enjoyed The Lace Makers of Glenmara very much. There are many times when you could feel alone in life, but being part of a circle of friends can help you through it. It is a beautiful story, one might even consider it a coming of age story. Lacemakers is a novel of transformation, in which Kate, Bernie, and company assist each other in coming to terms with the difficulties in their lives.

It tells the story of Kate, a young woman gleenmara Seattle who has recently lost her mother to cancer, and her live-in boyfriend of five years to a young model. Storywise, it was cute and I liked it but I felt like the story itself was cut short and wrapped up too tidily. She takes the trip of a lifetime to Ireland, and makes friends synpsis the lace makers of Glenmara- a small Irish town.

But I found these sentences particularly good in depicting the mind set of someone who had just lost her This book had me laughing out loud and shedding tears, even though Tye was sitting in the middle seat of a plane.

The people and the zynopsis do not resonate with the real world Irish. The love story is ridiculous and forced. I would like to win and read this novel. While reading the book I was sorry I could not actually see the lace they were making.

The story, about an aspiring fashion designer who goes to Ireland on a trip she was supposed to take with her mother who recently passed, is sad and wonderful. Kate is touring Ireland on her own, trying to soothe her depression over recent losses of her own. Oct 24, Amy rated it really lgenmara it. A broken town with no tourists and people are fleeing because there is nothing to do there, but she finds wonderful friends there, Bernie who rents out a room to her and who is lonely too.

It also made me tear up, because it’s not all fun and friendship. There’s the synopdis but brooding love interest who can’t open his hear Wow.

And the rest of the Lace makers who all have different problems, if it’s husbands, themselves or children. It seemed a tiny bit unrealistic. The story reminds me of “Chocolat”. There is also a bit of romance hidden in the background, but even though I love romance it is the life of these women that is more important still zynopsis romance.

A few of the sentences I found I kept re-reading, as the phrasing was awkward. It’s all about change, growth, loving what’s old and finding what’s new. After reading a bit from the author and realized she started out in journalism and short stories is made more sense. The women are a close-knit group, providing friendship and support to each other through The Lace Makers of Glenmara is a beautiful, heartfelt story of grief, friendship, adventure, tradition, love, and so much more.

Each of the women in the club has a backstory, and to some degree, none of them are surprising stories. In this charming, fading Gaelic village, Kate quickly develops a bond with members of the local lace-making society: I don’t want to summarize anymore as I feel that would ruin the story, but I will talk about Barbieri’s writing and how I feel about the story in general.
